Forest Park Hotel,
Brockenhurst, Hampshire

Forest Park Hotel

The venue for the Nanotechnology for Healthcare Summer School will be the Forest Park Hotel, Brockenhurst. Located in the heart of the New Forest, Hampshire, the site was originally a vicarage, granted by the Crown and paid for by John Morant, whose family owned the surrounding area during the latter half of the 18th century. In 1902 the site was converted into a hotel and has remained as such until this day, apart from a brief period during World War I when it was used as a military hospital.

The hotel offers ample free parking and is easily accessible by either road or rail, situated just 1 mile from Brockenhurst Railway Station, which runs services direct from London and Southampton (for further details of how to find the Forest Park Hotel please see the Directions page). Adjacent to the open forest, the hotel provides an ideal base from which to explore and is just a short walk away from the quaint and picturesque village of Brockenhurst.

New Forest

The hotel has 38 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms, with some offering views across the landscaped gardens. All rooms have colour television, radio, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, together with tea and coffee making facilities. Accommodation costs are included within the fees for the Summer School and we offer the option of either a shared room or a single room for a slightly increased fee (please see the Registration page for further details.)

Eating and Drinking

The Restaurant with its views across the garden offers an extensive a la carte menu together with an excellent and imaginative wine list. Alternatively the Forest Bar serves a mouth-watering selection of light meals and snacks. Dinner at the hotel each night is included in the registration fee, apart from on the final day when lunch will be served instead before attendees depart. In addition, why not enjoy the options of afternoon tea in the comforatble lounge area or perhaps a drink in the Cocktail Bar. Alternatively, just several minutes away, Brockenhurst village offers all the necessary local amenities as well as a selection of pubs and restaurants.

The hotel boasts an all weather tennis court, outdoor heated pool (open April to September, weather permitting) and Log Cabin sauna. The hotel also boasts its own riding stables, with horses suitable for novices to the more experienced riders.
